1. Qualifying rounds are held April 11th - May 30th, every Sunday starting at 6pm.
  2. Semifinals for the first heat (Weeks 1-4) will be held on June 6th. Semifinals for the second heat (Weeks 5-8) will be held on June 13th. Finals will be on June 20th.
  3. All performers must be 21 years of age or older.
  4. Covers only, please. No original or instrumental music accepted.

  6. Viejas will provide all technical support including: a sound reinforcement system, lighting system, stage crew, lighting designers, audio engineers, and stage manager.
  7. Viejas will provide the following backline equipment: (1) Five piece Yamaha drum kit, (2) Zildjian crash cymbals, (1) Zildjian ride cymbal, Zildjian hi hats (top and bottom), (1) DW bass drum pedal, (1) DW drum throne, (1) Yamaha hi hat stand, (3) Yamaha cymbal stands, (1) Ampeg bass amplifier (Head and Cabinet), (2) Fender Twin guitar amplifiers, all instrument and vocal microphones.  
  8. Viejas will provide a stage plot which every performing band will be required to fill out and submit. There will be no modifications allowed to the stage plot once submitted.
  9. Band members will bring any personal instruments such as guitars, basses, keyboards, instrument stands, as well as any effects pedals etc.
  10. All bands must use the same backline drum kit and bass amp, provided by Viejas. You may bring your own guitar amplifiers and drum accessories. Note: Our Fender Twin amplifiers do not have a Master Volume stage, so they do not overdrive.
  11. Bands that advance from the qualifying round may not change, add, or subtract musicians from their lineup that would alter the prescence or intent for subsequent performances.
  12. Each band will be given an instrument line check before they perform.
  13. Each band must remain onstage after performance until judging is concluded.
  14. All bands that are chosen to compete must provide a list of performers in their show. Performers will be checked in upon arrival by the Stage Manager, and given wristbands to allow access on and back stage. Only performers and Viejas staff will be allowed on and backstage. No Exceptions.
  15. Viejas will provide (2) dressing rooms backstage for all performers to share. One will be designated for men, and the other for women.
  16. Bands are permitted to use pre-recorded sound material. Bands are solely responsible for obtaining any required licensing permissions. Viejas assumes no liability for copyright or other infringements.
  17. Bands can be a maximum of ten performers but cannot be fewer than three.
  18. Sets during qualifying rounds are not to exceed (20) minutes. Bands will have 5 points deducted for each minute over the allotted time.
  19. Judging will be based both on votes from our judges panel and audience participation. Judging criteria is as follows: Showmanship, Musical Ability and Audience Response.
  20. Viejas reserves the right to record and photograph any performance for promotional purposes, with no claim for proceeds or any claim to ownership by the band. Viejas retains ownership of all recordings and photographs produced during this event.
  21. All bands must follow instructions given by the Viejas stage manager.
  22. Viejas Casino is a wholly owned and operated business of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, a federally recognized Indian tribe that retains and has not waived its sovereign immunity. All rules are subject to the discretion of Viejas. All performances will take place on the Viejas Indian Reservation.
